How to Schedule Tweets for Maximum Reach: Best Practices

Schedule Tweets

Among all social media tools, Twitter is the best platform for audience engagement. Unlike Facebook or Instagram, where you already have to be connected to communicate, users who aren’t your followers can still see your tweets and interact with your content. One way to keep engagement rates high is by scheduling your tweets.

Doing this allows you to post quality content consistently without having to worry about time zone differences and other external factors. And in this article, you will discover how you can schedule your content on Twitter to get the best results on the platform. Let’s get right to it!

How to Schedule Tweets on Twitter/X

To schedule tweets on X, you should first log on to the Twitter website from your desktop and click on Post on the left side of the screen. The next step is to compose your tweet and add images, GIFs, or emojis to make it more visually appealing. You can also set audience restrictions or create a poll.

When done, click on the calendar icon to set a schedule for your tweet.

You can set the exact time and date that your scheduled tweet goes live up to 18 months in advance. Once you do it, click on Confirm, then Schedule, and you will have your first scheduled tweet!

To view all your scheduled tweets, click Post, tap on Drafts in the upper right corner, and choose Scheduled.

Keep in mind that once you have already created a scheduled tweet, you can no longer edit it or change its posting date. Your only option is to delete the tweet and create an entirely new one.

How to Schedule Tweets with Publer

Publer allows you to schedule tweets for free on your desktop or via their mobile app. It’s a social media management platform where users can schedule, analyze, and manage different social media accounts, including Twitter. Additionally, Publer boasts amazing customization and scheduling features, ensuring that your feed constantly publishes relevant content.

You can start scheduling your tweets in a few easy steps:

#1. Create a Publer Account

Create an account on Publer by signing up with your preferred email address or connecting to it with an existing Twitter account.

The platform will ask you to provide some details, such as your current role and how you intend to use Publer. You can choose the answer from the drop-down list or select Other if none apply. Additionally, you’ll need to name your workspace and select the industry you work in, as well as connect all the social media accounts you want to manage with the platform.

#2. Connect Your Twitter Account

You can connect your Twitter account to the platform (if you didn’t use it to sign up) by going to Social Accounts on the left sidebar and clicking on + Connect beside Twitter.

As soon as you click on the Twitter logo, it will redirect you to a Twitter authorization page.

Here, you’ll see what Publer can access and do for your Twitter account. If everything looks good, click on Authorize app to proceed. You will then be redirected back to Publer, where you can choose the Twitter account(s) you want to add.

Once you click on Connect, your account will appear in the Social Accounts tab. Following the same instructions, you can add more than one Twitter account on Publer.

#3. Create a Tweet

To create a tweet, click on Create on the left sidebar and click on your Twitter account. Compose your tweet as usual; you can also use Publer’s AI Assist to help you craft creative and engaging tweets.

At this point, you can also add relevant hashtags or choose from Publer’s auto-generated ones to boost your tweet’s discoverability.

In case you want to schedule bulk tweets with Publer, you can do so by clicking on Bulk Options and selecting Add Post.

Once it’s done, all that remains is to set the posting schedule.

#4. Create a Thread (Optional)

To create a thread, click on the Make a thread button (the speech bubble icon) below the post draft.

You can use Twitter threads to discuss different topics at length. Instead of trying to condense all your thoughts into one tweet, it’s possible to create a separate tweet for each point you want to discuss. Readers can then view the entire thread by clicking on the initial tweet to expand it.

You can choose to publish each succeeding tweet in the thread simultaneously or with a minimum delay of 1 minute. When done, click Save and check the preview of your thread on the right side of the screen.

#5. Schedule Your Tweet

It’s possible to schedule tweets or threads with one of Publer’s four scheduling options: Manual, AutoSchedule, Recycle, and Recurring.

With Manual scheduling, you can choose exactly when your tweets will go live. On the other hand, using Publer’s AutoScheduling feature allows you to create timeslots and set your tweet to be posted at the earliest available time on your schedule. Note that Publer also uses these timeslots for recycling tweets.

And finally, for recurring posts, you can select when the tweets are posted, how often they recur, and when they will stop being reposted.

After you choose a scheduling option, all you should do is click Publish, and that’s it!

Scheduling Tweets Natively vs. on Publer

When deciding whether to schedule tweets natively or on Publer, you should consider each option’s pros and cons. Depending on where you are in your social media journey, one might be better for you than the other.

Pros & Cons of Scheduling Natively

The biggest advantage of scheduling natively on Twitter is convenience. You don’t need to change apps or sign up on a new platform to schedule tweets. Plus, scheduling on Twitter is also free, so if you are just starting out, this may be the better option.

However, this method is also extremely limited. For one, Twitter doesn’t allow bulk scheduling of tweets in one go. This means you would have to manually create, schedule, and publish each tweet, which can be time-consuming.

You can also schedule no more than 30 tweets within a 15-minute window. While you can always save them as drafts and set the schedule later, you will likely forget about them.

Finally, Twitter doesn’t support scheduling Threads, so you will only be able to schedule tweets on your desktop.

Pros & Cons of Using Publer to Schedule Tweets

Scheduling tweets in advance with Publer offers more flexibility. Thanks to our platform, you’ll be able to easily view all scheduled tweets on the Post tab and edit your tweet or thread at any time.

Moreover, you can also choose to change the posting schedule or save time by scheduling tweets in bulk. There’s no need to manually choose a date and time for each one if you decide to use Publer’s AutoScheduling features.

You won’t have to worry about running out of content, either, as Publer allows you to schedule tweets up to 2 years in advance. You can even automatically share these on other social media accounts connected to the platform.

The best part is that you can do all this on both mobile and desktop, so you can easily manage and curate your Twitter profile, even on the go.

While Publer is a paid platform, we offer a free plan where you can experience a glimpse of the full range of our features. If you decide that you want more for your business, you can sample our paid plans with a 7-day trial before fully committing.
